How is a child's adult height calculated?
Mid-parental height formula: for boys (father's height + mother's height + 5 inches) / 2, for girls (father's height + mother's height - 5 inches) / 2. Results are accurate within ±3.5 inches. For example, if father is 5'11" and mother is 5'6", the predicted height for a boy is about (71+66+5)/2 = 71 inches (5'11").
