Cooking Unit Converter – Convert Cups, Oz, and Tbsp to Deciliters and Grams
The cooking unit converter transforms Anglo-Saxon cooking measurements to metric units: cups, tablespoons, teaspoons, fluid ounces, and pints convert to deciliters, milliliters, and grams. Makes following American recipes much easier.
Enter an amount and select a unit, and the converter displays equivalent values in all other units. Important note: volume and weight measurements differ — a cup of water ≠ a cup of flour in grams. The calculator also handles ingredient-specific conversions for the most common cooking ingredients.
How much is 1 cup in deciliters?
1 US cup = 2.37 dl (236.6 ml). 1 tablespoon (tbsp) = about 1.5 cl (14.8 ml). 1 teaspoon (tsp) = about 5 ml. 1 fluid ounce = about 3 cl (29.6 ml). Remember that British measurements differ slightly from American: 1 British cup = 2.84 dl.

Select ingredient and measurement units, and the converter calculates the equivalent amount in another unit.
- Convert volume measurements (cups, ml, tbsp, tsp) between each other.
- Convert volume to weight and vice versa by ingredient type.
- Supports both European (ml, g) and American (cup, oz) measurements.
Volume to weight conversion depends on the ingredient – 1 cup of flour doesn't weigh the same as 1 cup of sugar.
- Volume-weight conversions are ingredient-specific – 1 cup flour ≈ 120g, 1 cup sugar ≈ 200g.
- Cups are not precise measurements – American cup = 237ml.
- Scale is always more accurate than volume measurement, especially in baking.
Unit conversions are estimates – different ingredient densities and measuring methods affect results.
- Flour compaction level (sifted vs. packed) affects volume measurement.
- Liquid and dry ingredient measurements differ from each other.
