Essay Counter – Count Essay Words, Characters and Estimated Page Count

The essay counter calculates text word count, character count (with and without spaces), and estimated page count at 12 pt font with 1.5 line spacing. Perfect for students tracking essay and thesis length.

Paste or type text in the field for real-time calculation. The counter also shows paragraph and sentence count plus estimated reading time. You can set word count goals and track progress.

How many pages is 1,000 words?

With Times New Roman 12 pt and 1.5 line spacing: about 1,000 words = 2 pages, 2,000 words = 4 pages. With double spacing: 1,000 words = 2.5 pages. Single-spaced text fits about 1,000 words on 1.5 pages. These are estimates — actual page count depends on margins and font.

📚 More Info

The essay counter estimates essay length based on words, characters, or pages. Especially useful for students who want to ensure their essay meets length requirements.

✅ What does this do?

Input your text or give a word count, and the counter converts it to estimated pages, reading time, and other useful metrics.

  • Convert word count to estimated pages (A4) or reading time.
  • Check essay character count and paragraph structure.
  • Find out how many words you need to fill a given page count.
🧠 How to interpret results?

Page count depends on font, font size, line spacing, and margins – the estimate is based on typical settings.

  • One A4 page (12pt, 1.5 line spacing) is about 250–300 words.
  • Different institutions may have different formatting requirements that affect page count.
  • Reading time estimate is based on average reading speed (about 200–250 words/min).
⚠️ Good to know

The calculator gives an approximate estimate – final page count always depends on formatting settings.

  • Check your institution's exact formatting guidelines (font, line spacing, margins).
  • Essays containing images, tables, and references may differ from the estimate.
  • The tool doesn't assess essay content quality – only length.
Note: The essay counter helps with length planning – check final formatting in your word processor.
