Finland Water Level and Temperature LIVE – Coastal and Lake Monitoring

Monitor real-time sea and lake conditions at Finnish coastal and inland stations. See water temperature, sea state, wave data, and trends from official monitoring stations run by Fintraffic and SYKE.

The tool fetches data from Fintraffic's open maritime API. Coastal station measurements include sea state (calm to very rough), water temperature, wave direction, and trends. For inland lakes, the tool links to SYKE's official water level monitoring. Data updates automatically every 5 minutes.

What Is the Water Temperature on the Finnish Coast Right Now?

Finnish coastal water temperatures vary dramatically by season. In summer (July–August), the Baltic Sea typically warms to 15–22°C (59–72°F), with the warmest waters in shallow bays. The Gulf of Finland is generally warmer than the Bothnian Bay. This data is especially useful for boaters, cottage owners, and swimmers planning a dip in Finnish waters.

Finland Water Stations LIVE shows real-time measurements from Finnish coastal and lake monitoring stations: sea state, water temperature, wave data, and water levels. Especially useful for cottage owners, boaters, and swimmers.

✅ What does this do?

The tool fetches real-time data from Fintraffic's Digitraffic marine API and displays measurements from Finnish coastal stations.

  • Shows sea state (calm, slight, moderate, rough) and water temperature from Baltic Sea coastal stations.
  • Covers the Gulf of Finland, Gulf of Bothnia, Archipelago Sea, and Åland Sea.
  • Links to SYKE (Finnish Environment Institute) and FMI for lake water levels and supplementary data.
🧠 How to interpret results?

Sea state is shown on a scale from calm to very rough. Water temperature is the measured value at the station.

  • 🟢 Calm, 🔵 Slight, 🟡 Moderate, 🔴 Rough — at a glance you see if conditions are safe.
  • Trend arrow shows whether conditions are calming or intensifying.
  • Finnish coastal water warms to 15–22°C (59–72°F) in July–August. Gulf of Finland is generally warmer than the Bothnian Bay.
⚠️ Good to know

Data updates automatically every 5 minutes from Fintraffic's open API.

  • Some stations have a 15–30 minute data delay — this is normal.
  • Lake water level data is available via SYKE's service, with direct links provided.
  • Information is indicative — for boating and open-water swimming, always check official maritime safety sources.
