Percentage Calculator – Calculate Percentages, Changes and Proportions Easily

Percentage calculator handles percentage calculations in different forms: what is X% of Y, what is X if it's Y% of the total, and what percentage is X of Y. Plus percentage change calculations.

The tool covers all common percentage calculations: sale prices, sales tax, salary changes, interest rates and statistical proportions. Enter values and select calculation type for results and explanations.

How to calculate percentage change?

Percentage change = (new value − old value) / old value × 100. If price increased from $80 to $100, change is (100−80)/80 × 100 = 25%. If it decreased from $100 to $80, change is (80−100)/100 × 100 = −20%. Note: a 25% increase and then decrease back is not the same as a 25% decrease — the percentage calculator shows both correctly.

📚 More Info

The percentage calculator effortlessly calculates percentages, changes, and increases. An essential everyday tool for shopping, studies, and work life.

✅ What does this do?

Enter numbers and the calculator computes percentages, percentage changes, or discounts.

  • Calculate what percentage one number is of another number.
  • Determine percentage change (increase or decrease) between two numbers.
  • Calculate the final price after discount or increase.
🧠 How to interpret results?

Percentage calculation is mathematically precise – ensure your inputs are correct.

  • Percentage change is always calculated relative to the original number.
  • A 50% discount + 20% discount is not 70% – the second discount is calculated from the already discounted price.
  • Percentage points and percentage are different – from 10% to 15% is a 5 percentage point change.
⚠️ Good to know

The percentage calculator is one of the most used everyday mathematical tools.

  • When comparing offers, percentage tells relative change, while actual amounts tell absolute change.
  • VAT percentage and discount percentage are calculated differently – check the context.
  • The tool works in your browser – your data is not stored.
Note: The percentage calculator is an everyday essential tool – also try the VAT calculator for tax price calculations.
